The Government issued a resolution on the creation of a Tashkent City Children's Multidisciplinary Hospital on Wednesday, the Ministry of Justice said.

As per the Resolution, the Zangiata-2 infectious diseases hospital will be closed, and instead a children's clinic will be set up with 500 beds.

The main goals of the hospital will be to:

  • conduct out the necessary medical examinations of children under 18 years of age, providing them with highly qualified medical advisory and specialized inpatient care;
  • provide practical and methodological assistance to district medical associations;
  • promote the adoption of modern medical technologies and management methods into the practice of medical institutions in Tashkent;
  • participate in the training, retraining and advanced training of medical personnel.

The building and premises of Zangiata-2 will be adapted to provide medical care to children by September 1.

In November 2022, plans were discussed to move the Republican Center for Neurosurgery to the Zangiata-2 hospital. However, this caused objections among the team of the neurosurgical clinic, and since then this issue has not been raised again.

The Zangiata-1 and Zangiata-2 hospital complex was built in 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The executives of the Zangiata-2 clinic earlier, in a conversation with Gazeta.uz, noted that when designing the hospital, “the most advanced world experience was involved, the equipment of the hospitals meets the most modern standards.” The complex then worked closely with such advanced clinics as the Berlin Charité and the German Federal Institute for the Study of Infectious Diseases and Intolerable Diseases. Robert Koch.
