Sentence was handed to a man who, from May 2023 to January 2024, unauthorizedly had been dumping waste from a truck onto the bed of the Chirchik river In Kuyichirchik district of Tashkent province, which is why a landfill in the form of a dam was formed there, the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection said.
State environmental officers discovered the dump during a raid in January. Despite repeated warnings, the man continued to dump construction waste without permission.
The investigation found that in total he dumped over 126.4 thousand cubic meters of waste into the river bed; damage to nature was estimated at 3.068 billion soums. He also grossly violated the Nature Protection Law and Protected Natural Areas Law.
The court sentenced the offender to 3 years and 9 months in prison. He will also be indemnify the damages of 3.068 billion soums.
