Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights is studying a commercial with the participation of the Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, the Committee’s press service reported.

On July 2, the head of the Ministry of Culture starred in a commercial for a clothing store in Tashkent, where he put on several suits and at the end called on everyone to “support our national brands and products.”

Internet users voiced the question of whether this contradicts the Advertising Law. In line with the Article 16 of the law, it is prohibited to indicate in an advertising that a product has been approved of by a government agency or officials.

The Competition Committee reported that one of its main objectives is to monitor legislation related to advertising in the country, so it has launched a probe into this situation in line with the Advertising Law.
