President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on July 3 on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Astana, the presidential press service said.

Reportedly, the second Ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue scheduled to take place in Tashkent by the end of the year. A high-ranking Chinese parliamentary delegation is expected to visit Uzbekistan in the near future.

In 2023, the two-way trade the countries reached $14 billion. The parties pointed to the possibility of increasing this figure to $20 billion in the near future.

The current portfolio of investment projects is estimated at $50 billion. Year-to-date, more than $3 billion of Chinese investments have been disbursed in the country, and over 500 new joint ventures have been created, the report says.

The heads of countries also discussed the recent launch of the Uzbek-Chinese technology park and the region’s first production of electric vehicles BYD in the Jizzakh region.

An investment platform has been қуе гз with the Silk Road Fund, and the Olympic Village project in Tashkent is being completed with the assistance of the Exim Bank of China. A regional branch of Exim Bank is expected to open in Tashkent.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the intensification of interprovincial exchanges. Since the beginning of the year, the heads of all provinces have visited China several times; delegations from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the provinces of Anhui, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Shaanxi and Shanghai have visited Uzbekistan. Trading houses were opened in Beijing, Urumqi and a number of other cities.

The second Forum of Provinces is planned to be held in 2025.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev especially noted the support of the President of the People's Republic of China in matters of practical cooperation in the field of poverty alleviation. It was proposed to adopt a long-term program for the exchange of experience in this direction.

The parties also discussed the importance of the early start of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev confirmed “the unchanged position of Uzbekistan on the issues of supporting the One China policy and the fight against the “three forces of evil” (terrorism, extremism and separatism).”

Tashkent will host the Forum of Confucius Institutes in Central Asia these days. Plans have been outlined for the opening of branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan and the widespread introduction of the Chinese system of vocational education - “Lu Ban Workshop”. Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to hold a second Educational Forum next year.

China firmly supports Uzbekistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and security, said Chinese President Xi Jinping here on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency said.

China is always a trustworthy friend and partner of Uzbekistan, said Xi during a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the end of the negotiations, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Xi Jinping to visit Tashkent.
