The Tashkent city mayor, Shavkat Umurzakov has been elected as a deputy of the Tashkent city council of people’s deputies from the Turkiston-53 constituency in Yunusabad district. The decision was made at the 104th session of the Council on Tuesday, the press service of the city mayor’s office said.
Shavkat Umurzakov was presented as a candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.
He was approved as the Tashkent city mayor in early April; before that, he worked as acting mayor for over a year.
