Five people died after GM Nexia 2 car fell into the South Mirzachul Canal in the city of Shirin, Syrdarya province, on June 17, the provincial police department said.
Reportedly, while crossing the bridge, the driver lost control, and the car broke through the fence on the left side and fell into the water. There were four people in the cabin apart from the driver.
Divers from the emergency rescue team were able to remove the car from the water, as well as the bodies of the driver and three passengers. The search for the fifth drowned person is ongoing.
