Uzbek nationals will again be able to go to the Republic of Korea for seasonal work, the Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction Bekhzod Musayev announced after at a meeting with Korean Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae during negotiations in Seoul, the press service of the Ministry of Employment said in a statement.
In 2021, Korea Republic resumed hiring Uzbek citizens for seasonal work, but many of them violated their employment contracts and did not return to their homeland after the expiry of contracts, which is why the Korean authorities suspended the recruitment of Uzbekistan citizens on an E-8 visa (for seasonal work).
The Ministry of Employment added that the negotiations were difficult, but Minister Bekhzod Musayev was able to achieve the resumption of this procedure. The Ministry of Justice of Korea emphasized that if workers from Uzbekistan stop violating laws, do not engage in illegal activities and do not leave their jobs without reason, the Korean officials expressed its readiness to “open any type of work visa for our compatriots at the highest level.”
“In particular, Uzbek citizens can improve their skills by working in the field of agriculture and agricultural technologies, thereby enriching their knowledge and skills in this area and return to our country with more experience,” the statement added.
In addition, skilled Uzbeks will also be able to work in Korea.
Earlier, Minister Bekhzod Musaev met with the Chairman of the Association of the Automotive Industry of the Republic of Korea, Kwak Yong Chol, and discussed employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens at South Korean automobile factories. Today, 48 thousand people work at 6,800 automobile enterprises in South Korea. However, there is a shortage of employees in the auto industry, which is estimated at 3,000 people.
