Uzbekistan’s international trade topped $15.8 billion, which is by almost $1 billion, or 6.2%, more than for the same period in 2023 in January-March 2024, the Statistics Agency said in a report.

Exports including gold increased by 10% - to $6.38 billion, excluding gold - $3.65 billion (+7.4%), imports - to $9.44 billion (+3.8%).

The trade deficit decreased slightly and stood at $3.05 billion, which is $232.2 million less than last year.

In Q1, gold exports increased by 10.5% to $2.66 billion (in Q1 of 2023 - $2.41 billion). This represents 41.7% of the country's total exports.

In March, more than US$ 1.35 billion worth of gold was exported, or almost the same as in February ($1.32 billion).

In March, gold quotes rose from $2,055 to $2,246 per ounce (+9.3%) and are continuing to reach historical highs.

In February, Uzbekistan became the largest seller of gold in the world, selling 12 tons of gold. In 2023, the country ranked second in annual gold sales.
