UK’s Foreign Secretary and the former Prime Minister, Lord David Cameron will visit Uzbekistan on April 23, the press service of the British Embassy said.

In Tashkent, David Cameron will hold talks with Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The parties will reportedly mull on "closer cooperation on key issues" including regional security, greater UK involvement in education, climate change, bilateral trade and business ties.

David Cameron will visit Tashkent as part of his Central Asia and Mongolia tour. The purpose of the tour is to expand cooperation in the areas of economic development and education, as well as strengthening the independence of the countries of the region.

The last British Foreign Secretary to visit Uzbekistan was Malcolm Rifkind in February 1997.
