ADM Jizzakh automobile plant will launch hybrid cars and EVs, the director for development and planning, Alisher Komilov told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
Assembly production, including stamping, welding, painting and machine assembly has been set up at the first phase, through $234 million in investment.
In 2024, ADM Jizzakh is set to complete the second stage and increase the investment volume to $315 million. The company's turnover is expected to surpass $1.2 billion before 2025, and bring the number of employees to 4,500.
“The third stage will be the creation of a complex for manufacturing cars using renewable energy sources, that is, we are going to fully master the production of hybrid cars and EVs based on SCA (small component assembly), including stamping of body panels, welding, painting and vehicle assembly. It will be a car completely localized in Uzbekistan, just like the current [Kia] Sonet model,” he said.
According to the presentation slide, the third stage is planned for 2025-2027, during which the volume of investments should reach $550 million. The funds will be used to produce hybrid and premium cars, as well as commercial vehicles based on SCA, create a press shop, set up the production of lighting systems and car seat frames, create a research and development center for pilot development (2025-2026) and localization companies.
ADM Jizzakh Director for Technology Development Ilyos Abdumannopov added that the production of hybrid cars and EVs was planned to be mastered by mid-2027 together with partners from South Korea and China.
By 2027, ADM Jizzakh’s turnover is expected to quadruple to $4.7 billion, the number of employees to 10 thousand, and production area from 112 to 170 hectares. It is planned to increase budget revenues from $200 million to $700 million, which would allow the company to enter the top 5 largest taxpayers (currently the 12th).
In 2024-2027, it is planned to localize 348 of 927 types of components in order to increase the localization level from 30.5% to 45%, as well as launch exports.
