President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his visit to the Namangan province, visited the Gavhar Jewel Group company in the Yangi-Namangan district on March 25.
The enterprise has a capacity of industrially producing 1200 kg of jewelry annually. The plant, which was launched in 2022, features equipment from Turkey, Italy, the USA and Germany. The project cost stands at $6.5 million, of which $3.5 million was spent on equipment, $1 million on the production complex and $2 million on the formation of the raw material base.
Today the company has launched the production of 10 thousand varieties of jewelry. In cooperation with foreign partners, the production of gold watch cases has been established. In 2023, 270 kg of products were produced.
While, here custom-made products of any shape using 3D modeling are being manufactured.
It is reported that the company has established cooperation with local jewelers. As a result, those who previously worked informally came out of the “shadow”, and the number of jobs increased. The plant employs more than 100 people.
“Uzbekistan produces 100 tons of gold annually. However, only 6% of our gold is processed. Non-gold producing countries export more jewelry than us. We are a little behind in this area. Therefore, we create additional conditions for production. And this is just the beginning. We will continue to develop this industry,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The head of state also got acquainted with the products of the Mekhmash company, which produces 20 thousand tons of screws and 18 thousand tons of rolled paper per year, with an export potential of $6 million, and employs 700 people.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions regarding increasing the production and export of fasteners used in the automotive industry and expanding the number of jobs.
The controlling stake in Mekhmash and Gavhar belongs to Dildora Zakhidzhonovna Isaeva.
In March 2021, the Central Bank disclosed gold sales volumes for the first time in 10 years. It turned out that the country exported 687 tons of non-monetary gold from 2010 to 2020, including 100 tons in 2020.
