Criminal case under negligence by officials charge was launched following the accident involving a school bus in Kagan district of Bukhara province on March 18. The press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan reported this on March 19.

Two schoolchildren and a bus driver died at the accident. There were 27 boys on the bus going to the provincial theater (the girls followed on the next bus). The accident occurred at an intersection with a presumably faulty traffic lights. A concrete mixer truck driving along the main road crashed into the bus (according to traffic rules, if the traffic light was not working, the bus driver had to give way).

A probe by the Bukhara province prosecutor's office found that certain officials committed a gross violation of the rules for organizing the transportation of children by bus and their escort, the statement said.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was launched under Official negligence charge of the Criminal Code.

In connection with the accident, the investigation unit of the Bukhara province police department opened a criminal case the day before Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles charge.

Investigation will be carried out comprehensively, completely and objectively, and their results will lead to adoption of a legal decision, the Prosecutor General’s Office concluded.
