President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with writers, poets, filmmakers, actors, musicians and other creative people on Thursday. At the meeting large companies, agencies, banks reportedly proposed sponsorship for creative organizations.

It was noted that the Writers' Union will have a new building, which will host Izhod public fund, Shark Yulduzi, Star of the East, Yoshlik magazines, and it is planned to build two multi-storey houses nearby for members of the Writers' Union on preferential mortgage loans, as well as modern houses-cottages in Zaamin and Parkent districts for writers and poets. At Tashkent province meeting Shavkat Mirziyoyev reportedly said: When do writers produce good stuff? It is when they have a house, a decent salary, and when after a good dinner Mr. Rozukulov (Deputy PM) pours them good Parkent wine, then writers will certainly get inspiration.

At the meeting, suggestions were also made to resurrect the Higher Literary Courses at the National University of Uzbekistan.

It was decided to restore another good tradition - seminars for young talented artists in Uzbekistan who are just starting activities in the fields of literature, theater and cinema, music and visual arts, and journalism.

At the meeting it was proposed the Ministry of Culture will move to a historic building on Taras Shevchenko street, where the former Ministry of foreign economic relations, investments and trade (now the Foreign trade ministry) was located.

"Around the world, culture ministries are seen as the face of the country and are usually located in very beautiful, landmark buildings. Unfortunately, our ministry works in dire conditions, in a building where it shares it with other government bodies. This does not allow the cultural community, creative people to visit the ministry freely, hold various events here," the President said.
