President signed Additional measures to ensure food security in the republic Decree. The document sets a goal to increase production volumes of high added value products by 1.5 times and export figures by 2 times in the next five years.
The Decree approved Uzbekistan’s Strategy for Ensuring Food Security and Healthy Nutrition until 2030.
Its main areas are:
- implementing effective economic and environmental management systems to use natural, financial and material resources to ensure food safety and healthy eating, as well as healthy and active lives for all segments of the population;
- creation of strategically important reserves of agricultural and food products and their raw materials through mechanisms based on the principles of a free market economy;
- in ensuring food and healthy nutrition, identify, assess and manage risks that may arise due to the negative consequences of natural and man-made disasters, global political and economic crises, pandemics, military operations and other events, as well as the creation of a notification and monitoring platform and more.
