Tashkent city council of people’s deputies meeting, the director of Veolia Energy Tashkent Alisher Khaitmetov made proposal to increase prices for hot water supply and heat supply for the public on February 8.

The price for the public is planned to increase from 91,960 soums per Gcal to 105,754 soums.

“Currently the basic price [for hot water] is 664 thousand soums. Of this price, the public pays 14%, or 91,960 soums. The rest - 570 thousand soums - is contributed from the local budget in the form of a subsidy. To reduce the burden on the local budget, he proposed to increase [the price] by 15% and set 105,754 soums. Then the public will pay 16% of the basic price,” he said in a story on the Yoshlar TV channel.

Deputy Naima Zhabborova complained that cold water comes from the tap and she has to wait a long time for it to become hot. She recalled promises to install meters that would take into account the cold flow of water, and also spoke about the poor quality of hot water, pointing out that “yellow water” was still flowing.

Alisher Khaitmetov acknowledged to the existence of problems, emphasizing that they cannot be solved in 1-2 years, but noted that work is underway on this.

Another MP, Khusniddin Ergashev, praised the Veolia company and said that in the areas where this company operates, residents were happy with the services. He called for more company funds to be allocated to repair pipes and modernize heating networks.

At the end of 2023, prices for heat supply services for legal entities increased by 1.5 times, and for budgetary institutions - by 1.6 times. Then the price for the public remained unchanged, the basic price for heat supply from Veolia Energy increased by 67.3% - to 664,465 soums.
