Chairman of Mingbulak district criminal court of Namangan province, Sh. S., was arrested on January 30 on suspicion of taking a bribe, the spoeksman to the Supreme Court Aziz Abidov said.
Law enforcement officers detained the judge while receiving 2,000 US dollars from V.S., the father of Sh. — presumably in return of a lenient ruling.
At the session of the Supreme Court today, the proposal of the Prosecutor General to bring the judge to criminal liability under Taking a bribe charge of the Criminal Code and to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention to him was eviewed and approved.
