Six people died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Margilan city, Fergana province, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office said.
Reportedly, spouses N. M.,56, and Z. M., 53, their daughter D. I., 29, as well as grandchildren M. Zh., 6, S. M., 4, and M. Zh., 2, died on the afternoon of January 26 in their apartment.
The investigation found that the plastic chimney of the heating boiler was brought out “in a non-standard position”, which resulted in the chimney detaching due to heating. Carbon monoxide accumulated in the room, which presumably caused the poisoning.
Preliminary forensic findings confirm that the cause of death was acute carbon monoxide poisoning and acute cardiorespiratory failure. An investigation is underway.
In mid-December, five members of one family died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in the Chimbay district of Karakalpakstan autonomy. Two more people were hospitalized in extremely serious condition. On the same day, it was reported that four members of the same family died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in the Yangi-Namangan province. At the end of October, a family of three died from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Akdarya district of the Samarkand province.
