As part of his state visit to China, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the headquarters and technology center of the Chinese automaker BYD in Shenzhen on January 25, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got familiar with the company's achievements and was shown the types of automobiles and other equipment they produce and have potential.
He, together with the president of the company, Wang Chuanfu, launched the project for the assembly of hybrid and electric cars in the Jizzakh province, Uzbekistan with a capacity of 50 thousand vehicles annually.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed to the need in the near future to expand the model range taking into account market demand and increase production capacity to 300 thousand per year.
He supported the company’s plans to establish the assembly of BYD electric buses in Uzbekistan with the localization of spare parts and the creation of engineering and service centers.
As a sign of the delivery of the company's 10,000th car to Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was given a YANGWANG U8 car as a gift.
