Turkish law enforcement agencies arrested Uzbek national Alisher Tursunov, AKA Mubashshir Akhmad, on the morning of December 28, Azon Global portal, which he founded, said.
“This was not reported to the public, since we believed that some kind of misunderstanding had occurred and there was no need to worry... Later there was a firm belief that the allegations against Mubashshir’s mentor Ahmad were completely groundless, that this would be confirmed at the preliminary investigation and he would be released. But, unfortunately, the situation turned out differently,” the message says.
According to Turkish laws, a suspect cannot be held in custody for more than three days. If during this period the charge against him is proven, then the case shall be transferred to the Ministry of Justice; if there is no evidence, then he must be released. Sometimes foreigners are transferred to deportation centers, and from there they are sent home or released.
“The accusation against Mubashshir Ahmad was not proven during the preliminary investigation. It remains unclear why the mentor, who was transferred to the deportation center, is still being held after so many days. Of course, from the day this incident occurred, lawyers began their actions and all necessary measures are being taken,” the site administration said.
On August 5, 2023, the Azon media group (Azon.uz website, Azon FM online radio, Azon TV online television), established by Alisher Tursunov, suspended all projects in Uzbekistan. The site, specializing in Islamic topics, has been operating since August 2017.
In November, the Azon Global portal was launched in test mode, which operates in four languages (Uzbek, Russian, English and Turkish).
