On December 15, 2023, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a ceremony of signing grant contracts within the framework of the Japanese Government’s "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects" with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan HATORI Takashi. The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Mr. INOYATOV Amrillo took part in the ceremony on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan.
The following 3 projects were signed during the ceremony (the total amount is about 290,000 USD).
- Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Samarkand City Maternity Complex No.2 (granted amount: 78,350 USD)
- Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Eye Microsurgery in Karshi (granted amount: 104,560 USD)
- Project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Breast Cancer Screening for Shahrisabz City Medical Association (granted amount: 108,632 USD)
Japan attaches great importance to the concept of "Human Security", which contributes to the creation of a society where everyone can live happily and with dignity. Since 1995 within the framework of the program "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects", more than 420 projects have been implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of health, education and agriculture. The total amount of grants exceeds 28 million US dollars.
Japan will continue to cooperate in improving access to high-quality medical services in Uzbekistan.
