At the government meeting in Termez on November 17, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon measures to boost tourism in the Surkhandarya province, his spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.

According to him, the province has a very high tourism potential, with more than 600 cultural heritage and tourism sites.

This year, work began on creating an open-air museum at the Dalverzintepa monument. The same museum will be set up in Baysun, where one of the deepest caves in the world, Boybulak, is located, as well as the Teshiktash and Machay caves, where the remains of Neanderthals were found, as well as Uzundara Castle - the first stone Hellenistic fortress discovered in Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, it is planned to send an expedition of foreign scientists to the Khatak cave and the Zarautsoy rock in Sherabad, where ancient people lived.

Pirs of Naqshbandiyya tourist ring along the Samarkand - Kitab - Denov - Altynsoy - Termez route will be launched (pirs are Muslim sanctuaries, burial places of Sufi saints).

There are only 53 hotels with 2,500 beds in Surkhandarya, half of them are located in Termez. Since it is planned to increase the flow of tourists to the province by 3 times in 2024, it was decided to provide Surkhandarya entrepreneurs with subsidies for the construction of a hotel, regardless of the number of “stars”.

He also instructed to restore civil air traffic to Sariosiyo airport before the end of the year, to launch next year regular flights from Sariosiyo to Samarkand and Tashkent, as well as to increase the number of flights from Termez to Istanbul, Fergana, Bukhara and Khorezm.

Also, a tourist carriage will be added to Termez - Tashkent railway service, and Sariosiyo to Tashkent train service will also be launched.
