Turkish contractor company, Aksa Enerji will build a gas piston power plant in Nishan district of Kashkadarya province on a public-private partnership terms, the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade (MIPT) reported.
The investment agreement was signed on Wednesday between the Minister of Investment Laziz Kudratov and the CEO of Aksa Enerji Cemil Kazancı.
According to the document, Aksa Enerji will invest $250 million in the construction of a 400 MW gas piston power plant. The company will be in charge of the design, financing, construction and operation of the power plant for the entire project period of 25 years.
The start of construction work is scheduled for December 2023 with the commissioning of the power plant at the end of 2024.
The parties also signed an on the power sale contract between the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan and Aksa Enerji, according to which the Uzbek side will be required to purchase electricity for 25 years from the Turkish investor.
The Turkish company commissioned a 270 MW thermal power plant in Bukhara province in January 2022, and a 240 MW thermal power plant in Tashkent province on January 14.
Aksa Energy is part of Kazanci Holding, which was founded in 1960. The holding completes projects not only in the energy sector, but also in agriculture and tourism. The company is also constructing power plants in Turkey, Ghana, Madagascar, Mali and Congo.
