Chairman of Uzbekistan Railways Z. Narzullaev met with the head of Afghan Railways Administration Bakht-ur-Rehman Sharafat on Wednesday in Hairatan, Balkh province in Afghanistan. The parties discussed the reconstruction of the Hairatan–Naibabad–Mazar-i-Sharif railway, the development and modernization of which is sought after by both parties.
At the meeting, the sides reached an agreement to begin construction on the Hairatan-Naibabad-Mazar-i-Sharif section, which will be carried out by Uzbekistan Railways.
The parties hope for further cooperation and mutually beneficial partnership in the field of railway transport, which will improve the transport infrastructure of the region and faciltate favorable conditions for the development of trade and economy in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
