In his address at the 16th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan touched on the Israel-Hamas war.
"About 11,000 Palestinians, including women and children, have died in the blockaded Gaza Strip, and the world remains silent. The Israeli government continues to bomb schools, mosques, churches, hospitals, and universities, disregarding all human values. 73% of the 11,000 residents of the Gaza Strip brutally killed by Israel are women and children," said the Turkish president.
Erdoğan also stated that Turkiye, with the support of Egypt, has so far sent 230 tons of humanitarian aid on 10 planes to El-Arish Airport.
"With a population of 500 million people and a total GDP of US$ 1.5 trillion, the Economic Cooperation Organization undoubtedly occupies an important place. If we, including Muslims, do not raise our voices now, when will we raise them again?" – he said.
At the summit, the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched on the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and expressed his concern that, a large number of civilians, especially women, children and the elderly, are being killed in the bloody conflict. He reiterated once again that Uzbekistan supported the right of the Palestinian people to have an independent state of their own.
