From July 1, 2024, as an experiment, the drinking water supply and sewer systems in the cities of Kagan, Shirin, Yangier, Bekobod and Yangiyul will be handed over to the private sector on the basis of public-private partnership. The relevant decree was signed by the president on October 24.
According to the document, prices for drinking water supply and sewerage services will be formed based on the costs included in the cost of production, costs for system development, financial costs, taxes and other mandatory fees.
When designing new facilities and drinking water supply and sewerage systems, a requirement will be established to take into account the degree of full coverage of the relevant territory.
In the period from 2024 to 2026, the following activities will be implemented:
- 813 areas with hard-to-reach drinking water supply will be provided with drinking water;
- Drinking water supply will be established in 130 settlements through the registration of state social orders;
- 792 thousand consumers will be equipped with drinking water meters.
The decree also provides for a relief from recycling fees for special equipment, equipment and vehicles purchased as part of projects in drinking water supply and wastewater disposal until January 1, 2027.
