Tashkent will host the sixteenth summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on November 8-9, to be chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential press service said.

The event is expected to be attended by leaders of states and governments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.

At the summit it is planned to discuss the ways to further expand trade, economic, investment, transport, communications and humanitarian cooperation within the ECO, as well as improving the organization itself.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev will hold a number of bilateral meetings as part of this event.

The Economic Cooperation Organization was founded in 1985 with a permanent secretariat in Tehran. Uzbekistan has been a member of the ECO since 1992.

As reported earlier, in connection with the ECO summit in Tashkent, traffic will be limited on a number of central streets. Truck will also be prohibited in the city downtown.
