Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his remarks at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana on November 3, proposed to create a single alphabet for all Turkic countries, Tengrinews.kz at reported.

“We continue our efforts to enhance cooperation in higher education to enhance our human relations based on our language, culture and history. Of course, to strengthen our unity, language is very important. A single alphabet is also an important component, and the support of the leaders is important here. The proposal that the Turkish Council of Higher Education put forward to the secretariat of our organization, I am sure, will be reviewed by our organization,” Erdoğan said.

This is not the first discussion of the transition of Turkic states to a common alphabet within the framework of the OTS summit. In 2022, the parties decided to form a Commission to create a unified alphabet under the OTS.
