President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting on October 31 dedicated to hydropower projects, spoke about the conflict between Israel and the Hamas movement, his spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
“As you know, armed clashes between the Israeli army and the Hamas movement aggravate the humanitarian crisis and lead to numerous casualties among civilian, innocent people. Children and women are dying, people are losing shelter over their heads, and are forced to leave their homes”.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed sympathy and condolences to the families of all the families of the victims on the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
“I have decided to provide 1 million 500 thousand dollars to the UN Middle East Agency to provide all possible assistance to the residents of the Gaza Strip. We express our strong solidarity with the Palestinian people and support their right to have an independent state of their own in accordance with previous resolutions of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council,” he said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that “further escalation of violence is fraught with large-scale destabilization of the international situation and the involvement of new forces in armed confrontation.”
“All this can lead to difficult to predict, tragic consequences that go far beyond the Middle East region. That is why we call on both sides for an immediate humanitarian truce and cessation of hostilities, and a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the president emphasized.
He added that the Central Asian region has “a unique experience of peaceful coexistence of representatives of different nationalities and faiths,” and for centuries “Muslims, Christians, and Jews are living here in friendship and harmony, side by side.”
“Taking advantage of this opportunity, I would also like to appeal to our fellow countrymen, especially young people, with an appeal not to succumb to various provocations and not to commit illegal actions. We must together take care of our peaceful and calm life, the atmosphere of unity and mutual understanding that reigns in our country, which is our greatest strength and priceless wealth,” the president said.
