The Moscow Investigative Committee (IC) launched 22 criminal cases of evasion from military service against natives from Central Asia who obtained Russian citizenship. While over 80 people have been sent to military service in the Russian Armed Forces, the department’s Telegram channel said.
According to the Investigative Committee, together with the Moscow military registration and enlistment offices, they are studying the personal files of conscripts “in order to identify persons evading military service.” As part of this work, according to the department, “the legality of the obtaining the Russian citizenship by draft dodgers is verified.”
The Investigative Committee warned that, according to the law, persons who evades military and alternative civil service shall be stripped off the Russian citizenship
Earlier, the chief of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, proposed depriving migrants of Russian citizenship if they refuse to participate in the war in Ukraine. Since August, raids on “new” citizens have been actively taking place in Russia - they are taken to military registration and enlistment offices and issued summonses.
