Uzbekistan Airports’ 100% stake in its regional wing Silk Avia airline is being handed over to Uzbekistan Helicopters, which is subsidiary of Uzbekistan Airways.
This is provided for by the president’s Oct. 16 Additional measures for the effective organization of aviation activities Decree, the Ministry of Justice reported.
Three ATR 72-600 aircraft, which belong to Uzbekistan Airports and on which Silk Avia operates, are being offered to Silk Avia free of charge.
This company is tasked with increasing the number of ATR 72-600 aircraft as part of its development strategy.
Uzbekistan Helicopters is entrusted to expand the geography of regional flights and increasing their number, as well as expanding a fleet of ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Silk Avia, the country's first regional airline, was created by Uzbekistan Airports in November 2021. The strategy for its development was developed by Dubai-based HAS Aviation GT. The stated goal was to solve the problem of the lack of flights between the regions of Uzbekistan. European-made ATR 72-600 aircraft were chosen for the fleet. The company began operating its first regular flights on April 25 of this year.
