Deputy chairman of Uzbekistan Railways, Kh. Rakhmetov hosted the head of the transport sector of the World Bank V. Aragones.

According to Khikmatulla Rakhmetov, the transformation occupies an important place in the company’s strategy. “Adapting to new conditions and improving accounting and accounting processes are tasks that require significant effort and resources, the complexity of which is obvious,” he said.

By agreement of the parties, executives of the World Bank will help determine the scope of work required for Uzbekistan Railways and prepare an appropriate presentation.

V. Aragones expressed readiness to participate in the development of the railway industry, in particular, to assist in financing projects. One of the initiatives is to increase the speed of trains to 300 km/h. The current Afrosiab train moves at speed of up to 255 km/h.

To achieve this goal, 4 possible support methods were proposed: assessing passenger traffic, improving the quality of railway infrastructure and expanding existing lines, expanding the railway network and conducting a preliminary feasibility assessment.

This meeting was reportedly an important step in the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan Railways and the World Bank.

Let us recall that earlier it was decided to purchase 6 high-speed electric trains from South Korea.
