Dust storm hit Tashkent, with Air Quality Index topping 112, which makes the capital of Uzbekistan the most polluted air quality city in the world right now. It also means that such air is harmful to vulnerable groups.

As per this index, the concentration of PM2.5 (suspended microparticulate matter) in the air in Tashkent is now 8 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended annual average for air quality. It is recommended to wear a mask outside and close the windows.

Uzhydromet warned in its morning forecast that short-term rain and thunderstorms are possible in Tashkent on Monday afternoon, with wind speeds up to 12-15 m/s.

The Tashkent mayor office issued an announcement about strong winds and dust after the storm began, with visibility in the city having decreased.
