Today, on August 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on measures to increase reserves and increase the volume of development of minerals.
According to the press service of the head of state, over the past six years, 15 new kaolin processing projects worth $148 million have been launched in the country. As a result, the production volume of finished products from it almost doubled, exports reached worth of US$ 65 million. During the same period, the volume of coal production increased 1.4 times and reached 5.4 million tons.
During the presentation, the president was briefed on plans in the field of geology, including the increase in reserves of uranium, kaolin and coal. It was noted that this year it is planned to produce 6.7 million tons of coal.
33 projects worth of US$ 620 million for kaolin are being implemented. Reportedly thorugh the production of high value-added products from this raw material, it is planned to increase exports to $81 million this year and to $180 million by 2030.
Also, together with foreign companies, exploration work will be continued to increase uranium reserves.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to speed up exploration work by transferring 5 promising coal sites in Surkhandarya to the private sector, introducing technologies for improving the quality and sorting of coal mined in Angren.
He pointed to the need to explore new kaolin deposits and increase its reserves to 200 million tons, increase the number of projects for the processing of this raw material. Measures have also been defined to attract foreign investors to the development of hydrothermal and black shale uranium deposits.
