Meeting was held between the Minister of Energy Jorabek Mirzamahmudov and the Chief Operating Director of Masdar Company of the United Arab Emirates, Abdulaziz Alobidli.
Reportedly, in accordance with the agreements reached during the visit to Abu Dhabi on May 7-10, a preliminary agreement was reached to expand the Masdar project portfolio in Uzbekistan to US$ 10 billion dollars.
To this end, on May 17, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade and the Masdar company on the joint development of 500 MW wind and 2150 MW solar PV plant projects.
Also, the company is exploring the possibility of implementing major hydropower projects in order to increase the volume of investments to US$ 10 billion.
As part of the existing projects, the construction of 440 MW solar PV plants in Samarkand and Jizzakh provinces and 457 MW in Surkhandarya province, and a 500 MW wind power plant in Navoi province is set to be accelerated.
It was mentioned that the Masdar, which was awarded the contract for construction of a 300 MW solar PV plant in Kashkadarya province, is expected to speed up the work within the project.
