Stabbing took place at the Said Ahmad mosque in Navbakhor mahalla of Dangara district of Fergana province. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, on June 15 at about 12:25 a local resident, 31, quarreled with another local, 39. They were familiar.
When a 39-year-old man was performing ablution before the afternoon prayer, his 31-year-old acquaintance approached him from behind and stabbed him several times with a souvenir knife in the head, chest, neck and abdomen.
Visitors to the mosque, who witnessed the incident, stopped the man, and the victim was taken to the hospital.
Law enforcement officials launched a case under Attempted murder charge. The 31-year-old man is now arrested.
