Police officer in Tashkent province is suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl, Nemolchi.uz project against violence in Uzbekistan said on Tuesday.
“The crime happened in the end of May. A 13-year-old girl and her friend were walking on the street when their neighbor suggested that they get into his friend's car and go for a ride. The girl knew her neighbor well and did not think anything bad. Then the teenagers were taken to a rented dacha, where the same “friend” raped the girl,” the message says.
After the incident, the girl closed in herself and began to became sociopathic. Only a week later they found out about the incident at home, the girl's mother immediately filed a complaint to the police. The examination was appointed only a week later, then the results were not announced for a very long time.
“My daughter identified him in front of everyone, and he stood and laughed at us,” the girl’s mother said.
According to the mother, the suspect and his relatives threatened her and her family. The threats were repeated many times, even in front of police officers and the prosecutor's office. The woman also wrote a statement on the fact of threats. So far, no action has been taken on this application.
The mother of the victim said that a criminal case was opened against the rapist under Rape of a person under 14 years old charge of the Criminal Code. Under this article, he could face 15 to 20 years. Now the suspect has been detained pending trial and dismissed from his post, the project noted.
The deputy head of the district prosecutor's office took control of the case.
