In May, the production of gasoline in Uzbekistan sharply decreased, the Agency of Statistics said in report on industrial production. In January-May, the production of gasoline reached 550.8 thousand tons, which is by 16% more than in the same period last year.
While, production has fallen by 3 times year-to-date, the decline is continuing for the fourth month in a row: January - 139.6 thousand, February - 124.3 thousand, March - 121.4 thousand, April - 119.3 thousand, May - 46.2 thousands. For comparison, in May last year, 92.7 thousand tons of fuel were produced.
Oil production for the first five months reached 327.6 thousand tons, which is 3.1% more than in the same period last year. In May, production increased to 69.1 thousand tons, which is slightly lower than in May 2022 (70 thousand).
The production of diesel fuel compared to January-May 2022 increased by 2.2 times - from 231.9 thousand to 504.3 thousand tons. If in January the enterprises produced 50.5 thousand tons of diesel fuel, then by May the output reached 173.9 thousand tons.
Against the backdrop of a reduction in gasoline production, Uzbekistan's dependence on imports of this product has increased. In particular, in the first five months, 76.2% more oil and oil products were imported - $852.4 million, of which only in May - $230.7 million.
Export of oil and oil products from Uzbekistan in January-May increased by 2.1 times compared to the same period - up to $91.5 million.
