Gas production in Uzbekistan in January-May 2023 topped 19.86 billion cubic meters (BCM), recording 2.15 BCM decrease, or 9.8%, compared to the same period last year, the Agency for Statistics said in a report.

In January, 4.31 BCM (-7.5% compared to January 2022) gas were produced, in February - 3.85 BCM (-9% compared to February last year), in March - 4.16 billion (-12 .96%), in April - 3.94 billion (-8.1).

In May, production fell to 3.6 billion (-11.2%), which is the lowest monthly production since November last year. Gas production falls for the second month in a row.

Electricity production in the first five months of the year increased by 3.1%, or 951.9 million kWh, compared to the same period last year - from 30.4 billion to 31.3 billion kWh.

In May, electricity production rose to a record 7.3 billion kWh in recent years, which is 36.1% more than in May last year. In previous months, production was lower than last year's figures.

It is worth noting that the preliminary data on electricity production for March, April and May were revised upwards by the Statistics Agency. The difference between preliminary and final production data for three months is almost 3.3 billion kWh. The Ministry of Energy noted that the Statistical Agency does not take into account the figures of stations built under public-private partnership terms (including solar photovoltaic stations).

More than 85% of electricity produced comes from thermal power plants that run on gas.

The production of thermal energy in five months decreased by 7%, coal - by 4.1%, gas condensate - by 8%. Oil production growth slowed down to 3.1% (in January-April it was 6.7%).
