11 people were injured on Sunday after a free fall of a freight elevator in Tashkent’s Yangikhayot district, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.The incident occurred in a multi-storey building in Yangi Darkhon neighbourhood at about 16:15.
Malfunction occurred when the elevator was moving down, and went on a free fall. When approaching the first floor, the automatic braking system worked, and the elevator stopped.
The injured were taken to the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. Eight people were allowed to go, three remained in the medical facility.
The causes of the incident are being investigated.
