Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi held talks at the Jumkhuri Palace of the Saadabad complex in Tehran. According to the Uzbek president’s press service, the parties reviewed the ways to further advance bilateral ties. They underscored that the parties attach great importance to the further expanding the trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The two leaders explored the opportunities for increasing the volume of the two-way trade, coordinating cooperation in the field of transport and logistics and focused on the use of the shortest transport and logistics corridors connecting Central Asia with Iran.
They discussed measures to implement joint investment projects in the fields of energy, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals and medical technology, food industry, textiles, industrial building materials, mechanical engineering, instrumentation and electrical engineering. In the field of agriculture, areas of cooperation have been identified for the construction of greenhouses, the production of agricultural equipment, the introduction of water-saving technologies, the exchange of experience in horticulture and fish farming, and the selection of drought-resistant crops.
The parties expressed their commitment to the development of cultural, scientific and innovative exchanges. It was noted that the governments of the two countries will contribute to building up business and scientific contacts.
They emphasized the importance of joining the efforts of the parties in the fight against such global challenges and threats as international terrorism, drug trafficking, cyberterrorism, and human trafficking.
The leaders discussed the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking, cyberterrorism, human trafficking and agreed to continue the dialogue on strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan.
They touched upon the issues of exchange of experience in the fields of innovation, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, cybernetics and technology transfer were discussed.
The parties supported the development of interregional cooperation, in particular, the establishment of direct contacts between the Bukhara region and the province of Hamadan, as well as the cities of Samarkand and Isfahan.
They voiced confidence that the increase in regular flights between the capitals of the two countries will contribute to the growth of business contacts and mutual tourist flow.
In order to deepen cultural and humanitarian cooperation, a decision was made to create a joint scientific group for in-depth study of ancient manuscripts stored in the funds of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
The presidents also highly valued the outcomes of the business forum held the day before with the participation of over 200 business leaders from Uzbekistan and Iran.
They also noted the importance of multilateral cooperation within the framework of various international and regional organizations.
