Number of bus passengers in Tashkent increased after purchase of new Chinese-made conventional and electric buses, the Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday.

In May, the Tashkent public buses transported at over 782,000 passengers daily on average, which is by 63% more than in the same month last year.

1,330 buses a day left on the routes, or by 65% more than in May 2022.

The Tashkent bus fleet got Chinese-made buses as of April 20. On this day, 400 cars immediately took to the routes - 169 electric buses and 117 Yutong gas-fueled buses and 114 King Long articulated buses.

A total of 1,000 buses and electric buses were ordered. There have never been deliveries of such a number of buses to Tashkent in a short time.

By the end of the summer, all 160 bus routes are to be transferred to a system of gross contracts with abolition of daily cash target. This should improve traffic regularity.

In parallel, work is underway to organize dedicated lanes that allow buses to avoid traffic jams.
