Regular BOD meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place in Vienna on June 5-9 this year, Dunyo reported. The parties of the meeting discussed the agency's 2022annual report, improving the IAEA's activities in the field of technical cooperation and other important aspects of the organization's activities.
Uzbekistan’s permanent representative in international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Abat Faizullaev spoke at the panel session: Technical cooperation. In his remarks, he briefed the attendees about cooperation between Uzbekistan and IAEA within the cooperation program for 2022-2027.
In this cycle of technical cooperation projects in Uzbekistan, he underscored that projects aimed at increasing the national potential in the field of developing the nuclear infrastructure of the republic, strengthening the regulatory legal framework in the field of peaceful use of nuclear science, increasing the capacity of specialized laboratories, as well as supporting the field of nuclear medicine are being implemented.
Among the concrete results, as he noted was the expert mission to review the national anti-cancer program (imPACT mission), the launch of unique equipment for improving the dosimetric laboratory of the National Metrology Institute of Uzbekistan, and the delivery of equipment for the safe operation of the research nuclear reactor to the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan done. As part of the work plan of the project, works on the development of the national control system are being carried out with Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Kombinat.
