On May 30, the eleventh congress of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan was held. Presidential candidate Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a presentation and expressed his opinion about labor migrants from Uzbekistan who work in foreign countries.

The press service of the political party reported that the candidate’s program reflected the complete reform of the system of external labor migration, the expansion of training in labor professions and foreign languages for Uzbeks traveling abroad, as well as the construction of an additional 1 million housing units to provide for the population affordable housing, providing builders and citizens with affordable and long-term loans.

Later, a footage surfaced on the network in which Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about labor migrants.

“Currently, about 2 million people work abroad to feed their families, away from their families, parents and children. It is very difficult to work in various difficult conditions, endure and earn money. We know it. We must say thank you to our compatriots who receive income in foreign countries, as well as work experience and practice. They are our children and brothers,” he said.

The presidential candidate said that the Agency for External Labor Migration would be reformed.

“We will expand coverage and make it mandatory to teach labor professions and foreign languages to migrants. We will provide assistance so that migrants can work in European and Asian countries, where they pay decent wages. We will create an opportunity for compatriots to remotely receive public services from anywhere in the world. We will provide legal and other assistance to those who find themselves in a difficult situation. The state and people will take care of migrants and their families. We will create new opportunities for children of migrants to enter universities. In a word, we will not allow citizens of Uzbekistan abroad to be left alone with their problems,” Mirziyoyev concluded.
