Minister of Natural Resources Aziz Abdukhakimov hosted chief of UNESCO's representative office in Tashkent Sara Noshadi. According to the Ministry, the parties discussed the ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the Ministry of Natural Resources and UNESCO in the field of environmental education and natural heritage management.

During the dialogue, the parties pointed to the importance of step-by-step transition to the "green" economy, introduction of digitalization system, environmental education and culture, increasing the capacity of employees and specialists, and the use of foreign experience in this regard.

It was noted that it is important to develop a national report on the environment and use of natural resources of Uzbekistan, to compile lists of national ecological and natural heritage. A proposal was made to open a regional office of the UN on Climate Change in Tashkent.

Development of the innovative project of the Aral cultural heritage park in Aral sea region, the establishment of visitor centers for cultural heritage objects, and the development of strategically important programs for the prevention of climate change were also discussed. They emphasized that consistent work on issues of air, water and environmental education is an important moving mechanism for accelerating bilateral cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to jointly hold the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), which is planned to be held in Samarkand this October.
