Joint exercises of units of the Central Military District (CMD) of the Russian Armed Forces and the Uzbek Armed Forces will be held at the Uzbek Forish training ground in Djizzakh province in October 2017, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
"Joint tactical exercises of units from the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan are being held for the first time since 2005 in Uzbekistan at the Forish training ground in October 2017," Roshchupkin said.
The training ground is located on the northern drops of the Nurata ridge, 250 kilometers from Tashkent."
Roshchupkin clarified that the agreement to hold the exercises was reached during the working meeting of the delegations of the Defense Ministry of Uzbekistan and Russia in Tashkent, which was headed by the Defense Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Colonel-General Kobul Berdiyev and the Colonel-General Vladimir Zarudnitsky, the commander of the troops of the Central Military District.
An assistant to the commander of the troops of the CMD noted that during the talks the parties discussed the situation in the Central Asian region and confirmed their interest in developing cooperation, within which by the end of 2017 staff talks on regional security, joint tactical exercises and other events will be held.
