Gas production in Uzbekistan in January-April 2023 topped 16.26 billion cubic meters (BCM) recording decrease of 9.5%, or 1.69 BCM, compared to the same period last year, follows from the data of the Agency of Statistics on industrial production.

In January, 4.31 BCM (-7.5% compared to January 2022) of gas were produced, in February - 3.85 BCM (-9%), in March - 4.16 BCM (-12.96% ). In April, 3.94 BCM of gas were produced (-8.1%). It is worth noting that the volume of production for January-April 2022 was revised downward in the new report - from 18.01 billion to 17.96 BCM.

Electricity production in the first four months decreased by 4%, or 993.5 million kWh compared to the same period last year, from 24.98 billion to 23.99 billion kWh. According to statistics, since 2020, there has been no drop in electricity generation during this period.

After declining electricity generation in January (-2%), February (2.3%) and March (-1.7%), April saw a 5.4% increase in generation.

The production of thermal energy in January-April decreased by 11.6% (in April there was an increase of 27.6%), gas condensate - by 7.7%. Oil production increased by 4.3%, but in April there was a slight decrease (2.8%).

Coal production in April increased by 9.7%, but since the beginning of the year in total volume has decreased from 1.59 million to 1.47 million tons (-7.4%). At a meeting on May 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that demand for coal would increase by 1.5 times and set the task of increasing production by 22.6% to 6.5 million tons.

As reported earlier in detail on companies that are present in the oil and gas fields of Uzbekistan. Minister of Energy Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, in response to an investigation by Radio Ozodlik, said earlier that out of 294 fields, 118 belong to Uzbekneftegaz, and 176 are operated by foreign companies.

As of January 1, 2021, the largest proven reserves were managed by Uzbeknetfegaz - 934.1 BCM of gas (50% of current reserves). Lukoil operates fields with gas reserves of 413.1 BCM (22.1%), Uz-Kor Gas Chemical — 109.6 BCM (5.9%), Surhan Gas Chemical — 106.6 BCM (5 .8%), Jizzakh Petroleum (now Saneg) - 84.9 BCM (4.5%). Most of the production was also accounted for by Uzbekneftegaz.
