Checkpoints at the Uzbek-Kazakh border have been switched to an enhanced regimen of operation due to the large truck throughput, the Kazakh Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance reported.
Reportedly, a list of problem areas has been compiled, and the parties have taken a set of appropriate measures to promptly resolve problematic aspects of accumulation at the border.
“Transport flows have been redistributed (a significant volume has been directed to the refurbished Konysbaev checkpoint”), checkpoints have been switched to an enhanced regimen of operation, customs posts have been additionally staffed to speed up control operations for the passage of vehicles across the border. The main dispatching department of the State Revenue Committee has switched to a round-the-clock operation for the release of goods," the report says.
It also became known that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held talks to increase the throughput of goods and vehicles in both directions and accelerate operations at the border.
“The working group will inspect the work of all checkpoints on both sides in the coming days. As part of the execution of the government’s instructions, work to increase trade and throughput at checkpoints on the border with Uzbekistan will be continued,” the committee noted.
