On May 22, the President’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev hosted the Ambassador of the European Union, Charlotte Adrian, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Matilda Dimovska.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan, the EU and UNDP in the framework of the educational programs in the country for Afghan citizens, especially boys and girls.

They pointed to the need to ensure the rights and freedoms of women in Afghanistan in matters of work and education and emphasized the importance of continuing to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, who faced difficult socio-economic conditions.

The EU Ambassador reiterated the EU's commitment to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and the EU's readiness to work closely with Uzbekistan in this area.
