International passport for Uzbeks aged under 25 will now have a validity of 5 years. Previously, the passport was issued for a period of 5 years to citizens aged under 16, for those aged over 16 - for a period of 10 years.
The relevant law was amended by the June 16, 2022presidential decree. Official bodies and the media reported on this document, which simplified the procedure for issuing a passport (in particular, it was allowed to obtain it regardless of the place of registration), but the clause on increasing the age from 16 to 25 years remained unnoticed.
Most sites, including the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services, still contain old information.
For children under the age of 1 year, a passport is still issued for a period of 2 years.
Note: Since November last year, passport issuing services has been temporarily suspended on the government services portal.
