After completion of the tests, the installed capacity will be 175 MW, with the generation of 467 million kWh of electricity annually, which will save 126.2 million cubic meters of natural gas.
In April 2019, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the modernization progress of the Tupalang hydroelectric power station. The height of the dam of the Tupalang reservoir was previously increased by 20 m, as a result, its capacity increased from 380 million to 500 million cubic meters. At that time, work was underway to install two more units with a total capacity of 145 MW. After the construction of the small Zarchob-1 and Zarchob-2 HPPs, the total power generation capacity at Tupalanga was to reach 250 MW.
